Research Projects

Below, we list research projects that contribute to the continuous scientific development of USEtox and where at least one member of the USEtox Team was or is involved as beneficiary partner.

OLCA-Pest

Project Duration: 8-Jun-2017 to 7-Dec-2020

Short Description: OLCA-Pest - 'Operationalising the assessment of pesticides in life cycle assessment' is a project aiming to build on current advances in life cycle inventory and life cycle impact assessment to operationalise and harmonize the emission quantification and impact characterization of pesticides in life cycle assessment and product environmental footprinting.

Cyclexpo

Project Duration: 1-Feb-2016 to 30-Sep-2017

Short Description: Cyclexpo – funded by the U.S. EPA, this project aims at the development of methodologies and characterization factors for near-field exposure scenarios for life cycle assessment, focusing on chemicals in personal care products, detergents, household sprays and building materials.

ExpoDAT Tier 2

Project Duration: 1-Feb-2015 to 31-Jan-2016

Short Description: ExpoDAT - Funded by the Long Range Research Initiative of the American Chemistry Council, this project aims to develop and improve process-based predictive models for substance properties, which are suitable for high-throughput screening for direct and indirect consumer exposure pathways.

RELIEF

Project Duration: 1-Jan-2015 to 31-Dec-2018

Short Description: RELIEF - 'Reliability of product Environmental Footprints' (Horizon 2020 Program of the European Commission and part of a European Industrial Doctorate Marie Curie action) is a 4-year project to develop tools to quantify uncertainty and variability in environmental footprints of products. Footprints related to greenhouse gas emissions, land, water and chemical emissions were included.

QUAN-TOX

Project Duration: 1-Apr-2014 to 31-Mar-2018

Short Description: QUAN-TOX - extending, disseminating, and harmonizing the quantification of human and ecosystem toxicity impacts when assessing the sustainability of products and services over their life cycle (7th Framework Program of the European Commission) is a 4-year project and its main objective is to support the further development and promotion of human and ecotoxicity characterization modeling in comparative assessments of chemical emissions.
