I'm wondering what the crop residues in the "run" tab cell K10 are used for?
If I want to calculate the impact of pesticides emission to agricultural soil, in calculating midpoint and endpoint levels for both human health and freshwater ecotoxicity, crop residue (i.e. wheat) data must be used to calculate whether or not and how. (For calculate IS score)
Thank you.
With the selection of the crop in cell K10 of the "Run" sheet in USEtox, a scenario for human impacts from exposure to pesticide residues in food crops can be selected. The related results are found in the same sheet, cells Q99 (intake fraction), Q135:Q137 (midpoint characterization factors), and Q142:Q144 (endpoint characterization factors), as well as in the "Results" sheet. Exposure to pesticide residues in food crops are not relevant for ecotoxicity.
For pesticide emissions into specific compartments, also the dynamiCROP model underlying the USEtox parameterized results for exposure to pesticide residues in food crops can be used as there is a version available specifically for application in LCA (see http://dynamicrop.org and publications listed on that website). The underyling mathematical framework in dynamiCROP for LCA application is described in Chapter 2 of the OLCA-Pest project Deliverable 4.1.
